Sealcoating is the process of applying a layer of protection to asphalt-based pavements or even roads to guard against damages caused by oil or water. In the initial stages, the surface should be clean so that the layer can blend with the material used in making the pavement. Before that, it is good to point out that, some agents like water are sometimes corrosive especially when it comes across a soft surface or that which that can react with water. The coat can resist destruction caused by acidic rain. Due to the increased rate of climate change, a lot of carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere causing the surfaces to corrode very easily. The acidic rain penetration is hindered by the presence of the seal coat.
There is efficiency with which one sweeps on the coated asphalt surface. The surface ensures that the debris brought by rainwater are washed away quickly, and also there is minimal resistance when one is cleaning a surface that is well coated.
Due to the reduced rate of corrosion, the maintenance cost of the pavement and surface is greatly reduced. This is very important especially in a place that experiences heavy rainfall or a place that is mostly used in chemical packaging.
